The values of Feldsalat e. V. reflect the diversity of its members. To do justice to this diversity, an open space for discussion is necessary: one where dialogue can take place, tolerance for others can be cultivated, and consensus can be reached. The boundaries of our discussion culture are clearly defined: forms of discrimination are not opinions, and we stand in solidarity with those affected. The association’s goal is to heighten members’ awareness of patterns of discrimination. The values of Feldsalat e. V. do not merely shape the life of the association; rather, they are put into practice through awareness-raising efforts at the association’s events. Feldsalat e. V. sees itself as a group structured around grassroots democracy. Flat hierarchies are intended to enable broad participation. Our goal is to create a space, particularly for marginalized individuals, where their perspectives and ideas can be perceived as a productive enrichment and put into practice. The structure of the association is designed to encourage members to participate proactively and independently. Autonomous action and the implementation of one’s own ideas are fundamental principles of the association.
Creativity
Feldsalat e. V., as a nonprofit organization, and the Feldsalat Festival are characterized by a non-commercial ethos. Any profits generated by Feldsalat e. V.’s events remain within the organization and are earmarked for use in future projects. The Feldsalat Festival sees itself as a participatory festival. This means that visitors are an active part of the festival’s implementation and design. The festival aims to be characterized by a sense of shared responsibility: visitors are not merely consumers, but contribute themselves to the realization of the festival, which is reflected not only in a high degree of creative diversity but also in a relatively low ticket price.
